(October 22, 2007) - SFE’s U-11 girls were finalists at the West Pines Tournament. Our warriors lost the early morning game 5-1 to Plantation’s top Division 1 team. Our girls stormed back to defeat Plantation 8-0 to close out Saturday’s competition.  SFE entered Sunday needing to win by 2 goals to qualify for playoffs. Determined not to back in, they powered past the Cyclones 7-1 to face rival Renegades in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals game was our girls’ match of the tournament. While they outplayed the Renegades, the game ended in a 2-2 tie. SFE won on penalty kicks 5-4 to face Plantation’s Division 1 team again in the finals. Having beaten our girls 5-1, Plantation entered the finals confident that they would run over our champions.  That was not to be the case. On less than twenty minutes rest, our girls held Plantation to a 2-0 loss, with Planatation scoring their second goal in the final minutes.
