3 OF 5 SFE PLAYERS CHOSEN FOR SUPER Y LEAGUE ODP SELECT NATIONAL TEAM; ANOTHER SELECTED FOR FYSA’S ODP
February 11, 2008--Three South Florida Elite FC players have been chosen to the Super Y League Select National Team: SFE striker Khori Foster (U-16), sweeper Giovanni Freitas (U-14), and forward Fabian Bastidas (U-14).
The selections are indeed an honor for our boys.
Only the top ten percent of SYL players (’92-’94) from all over North America were invited to the United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League ODP National Camps in Cocoa, Florida this past weekend. Approximately 300 boys competed in trial matches all weekend to impress the SYL ODP Coaching Staff. Selection to SYL’s Select Team is the first step for players to participate in USL’s joint venture with English Premier League’s West Ham United. The elite players in North America will be afforded the opportunity to train with one of the world’s top youth academies.
The players were also evaluated by Wilmer Cabrera, Head Coach for the United States National Under 17 team.
Five SFE players were invited to the SYL ODP National Camps, more than half of whom were selected. Eli Carlon and Jamar Lewis joined Foster, Frietas and Batista.
Alexander Marsh was also selected to FYSA’s ODP Player Pool earlier this month. Again, SFE had a strong showing, sending five boys to Fort Myers for the final round: sweeper Greg Joseph, goalkeeper Eric Mastromarino, stopper Jared Skinner, midfielder Marcos Soma, and Marsh.
CONGRATULATIONS BOYS, WE ARE VERY PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!!!!!
